new forge!!!!

| | |

Just got my new NC Whisper Deluxe Forge (with the back door). I'm so excited to get going with it. I've been heating metal rods with my torch, hammering, heating, blah blah. I'm reading to have the rods ready for me now.
Only thing is, I got to get the thing set up. Instructions are a little off-putting. I'm not an instruction person.
I have an idea for bending rods and having them hold large globes of hammered/shaped metal. more on it later.

Heating metal rods

Pam, great to hear you are getting into the blacksmiths art! I'd love to see what you're up to with that new forge and your metal art. Please, show us more!

new forge

There will be quite a number of folks here at the 2006 Sculptor's Shindig that are forging folks. Even one local just 6 miles from here that will be open for a studio demonstration trip when not here. Also Wray Schelin is 12 miles north and will be showing his work and studio centered on the English Wheel (he makes Jaguar bodies from scratch but is branching into more sculpture these days)) I would think it would be one of the best one on one's you could ask for.
If driving is too much. head here for the Bradley International Airport... many will be using that one. (Listed as the one for Hartford ,CT)
If you want more directions or details give me a email address and I will get you a google map. bpfink@artmetal.com

forge life is great

I've got the forge up and running. Am hammering away on rods and happy as a lark. I've been able to shape some 1/2" rounds into knots. Now what to do with them.

your work

i really like your work. the weeds thing was lovely. i think some good art could happen if you were to move towards abstract and not use anything but the metal... perhaps meditate on the physics of string theory...
