This comment`s sole intention is to warn some folks about how dangerous it can be to mix simple harmless home products, as well as other chemicals. Sometimes people like me who like to experiment at home and come up with their own mixes and/or patinas and discover outstanding finishes, do not realize the risk of mixing such products.

In the last year or so I`ve enter a few sculpture contests, and besides the excitement that goes along, and regardless of not having won any prizes, they all were great learning experiences. This may sound like a wacky idea, and just occurred to me, what if the people at Artmetal proposed to have a sculpture contest. This probably means some work, extra work probably but here`s the idea anyways. Perhaps, Rich will pull my ears when he gets back from his trip, LOL. As this community handles no funds to sponsor such event, a fee to participate should suffice to even come up with prizes for winners. Probably, sponsors could provide some funds, I don`t know. Guess the money or winning it`s not the reason for proposing the idea, nonetheless an incentive seems to encourage people to participate. There could be categories for the contest, like beginners, medium, and advanced, or maybe just two. The contest could take place within the Artmetal community, or invite people as an open event. Well, there are a whole lot of issues to be considered, which could be voted within the community to come up with the bases for the contest, etc, etc. There could also be different winning categories, like the most elaborate, the most outrageous, the most voted for this community if it was an open one, the most innovative, even a prize for the worst one(I`d like to participate on this category...),God knows, there are so many options to be analyzed. This sort of wacky ideas may add more fun to the site. nelson.

There are some simple classic methods to give iron work a rusted look, and other well known patinas. Nonetheless, besides those few ones, I`ve tried to find out some other methods that employ acids. In regards to chemical procedures to finish concrete and wood, there`s plenty information and specific formulas to enhance artistic work, but nothing have I found for steel (mild steel) work.

Recently I contacted via internet some galleries in my area, and one is interested in seeing my work. I don`t have the slightest idea how this art business works. Logically, profits may variate from gallery to gallery, location, etc.
