Cheap Cam program

Fabrication | | | |

Maybe I should present myself. Im working as a cnc miller in a small workshop in Sweden. We are mainly building stainless machines for the food industry such as conveyors and fillers. I also consider myself quite handy with a tig. The mill Im using has a controlsystem named Heidenhain TNC 410 if someone want to talk about that.

Anyway, I have stumbled upon a cheap cam-program, Simplycam
http://www.mr-soft.net

Maybe not much of a cam-program but quite fun to mill engravings with.

Hmmm- Heidenhain 410.

Hmmm- Heidenhain 410. Wouldnt be a Deckel Mill, would it?

There are not many people here who do much cnc, a little bit of plasma cutting.
But I would suggest you drop by www.practicalmachinist.com
there are a group of people there, particularly in the Deckel/Maho forum, who are extremely knowledgable about exactly that sort of thing.

outcast?

No, not a Deckel I think, the mill is called Johnford. Thanks for the link, seems to be a lot of useful stuff there. Just so hard interpreting the technical words to Swedish. Didn't find much pictures on fun projects either. Like DW Eldredge Engine turning and the amazing robot sculpture I found here.
Maybe I don't really belong here since Im not much of an artist and doesn't seem to have any desirable skills? Everyone here seems to be pros, no beginners at all!

PRO's ... NOT

Hey there, we are not all pro's here. Many of the more prominent posters are pros, but not all of us by any means. I certainly am not a pro at this. Not a beginner either since I have been doing this stuff for about 10 years now, but each time I fire up my forge or start on some new project, I start learning all over again. Haven't sold anything artistic, I seem to give it all away.

Not a pro,
Rick Crawford at Smoky Forge

Markus, I'm not an expert

Markus,
I'm not an expert and am trying to learn from from others on the forum. I have a back ground with machinery like you are using. I have gone from high technology manufacturing to learning old skills like hammering copper into some artistic form. I am also of swedish decent and had a chance to visit your country. It is very nice. I hope you find the forum usefull.
