Can I use Siliconbronze rod to stick steel and copper together? If not what technique would work? I am wanting to put some 18ga cold roll and similar thickness copper together for a sculpture... Tim ![]() steel to copper

Were you using silicon bronze filler wire? I can't imagine you had a problem. John Christiansen ![]() Silver soldering or brazing

Silver soldering or brazing is a dandy method of joining steel and copper. Thanks for suggesting it. Rich |

Yes, silicon bronze rod will
Yes, silicon bronze rod will stick to both steel and copper, though it is going to take a hefty amount of current to develop the heat quickly enough in the copper so that you don't blow out the steel. TIG or MIG with argon shielding and sock the amps to it to start with and then back off some after you get a puddle in the copper, if using TIG.
You might also consider some traditional joinery methods such as rivets, collars, tenons, etc.
