welding tabel envy

Welding

I have spent the better part of my time on this web site suffering from welding table envy. I have been trying to save for one but with things like they are it hasn't been a high priority. Then I was playing on Craigs List one day. I found a 3' X 5' X 5/8" piece of plate for sale for... hold on tho your hat... $150.00.
That is the perfect size for my shop (4" X 8' would be very tight). I'm so excited, I'm going to pick it up tomorrow. Maybe I can post a picture of my shop now to and fit in with all the big boys!

Happy welding, Mele

That will be a great addition to your shop. Mine is perhaps the most tool in my shop. And with that 5/8 thickness you won't have to worry about over heating and warping. Ray

Mele-
I am amazed you made such an wonderful oak tree (and other designs) without your table. I can't wait to see what you come up with now! I keep coming back to your oak tree post and appreciating it all over again.

you buying the beer?

Mele, great to hear you got yourself a nice hunk of steel for a welding table. They sure are nice to have. Another tool you might think of for the future is a cherry picker (engine hoist) from Harbor Freight. For couple hundred bucks they sure are nice to have around the shop. Probably could buy one with the beer money for the 5 or 6 guys.

Sounds Great

Mele

I use Craigs list for all kinds of things. It is a great source for sure.

It sounds like a nice find. Will you use a table with wheels under it, that lock for portability? It gives you more room and is very convenient in a tight studio.

Have Fun, Kim
