Thanks for all the support!!

Artmetal people,
I took my stuff to my first show and did pretty well. I took about 23 things and sold 18 or 19 of them. It was alot of work but it was fun, I think? Anyway, thanks to everyone for all your support. Especially Janet and Rob. This is a great site for information and encouragemnet. It's nice that anyone can come and feel welcome, from big to small.

I'm looking for some opinions

OK so I finally decided that I had to have a torch. So I looked and looked and researched and asked around. Everything was between Victor and Harris. I thought I had made a decision and I bought a Victor. Now I'm not sure I did the right thing.

cut nails

I am wanting to start a new project and I need a "truck load" of cut nails to do it. They were more expensive than I remembered at Home Depot and Lowes, does anyone have any ideas of were to get them in bulk and at better price?

Rob, Janet and Brad

Everybody,
So I went to the little upscale garden/landscape center down the street from my house and peddled my wares. They freaked out over it and wanted me to bring stuff to try out right away. Of course I have something else to do today and couldn't bring them anything until Monday. It was scary to just screw on my little cap and say here's my stuff.. do you like it? So I drove away feeling good.

Hey Rob!!

Hey Rob, where is the dragon. We want to see where the dragons new home is, has he found one yet???

Keep your fingers crossed

So word of mouth may be spreading. I sold a single Iris to someone to give as a Christmas present. That persons boyfriend owns a business that has something to do with metal and he wants "a bunch" of my flowers to adorn the fence in front of the building. I don't know how much.... Keep you fingers crossed that I get a real order, or could I call it a commission? It's kind of exciting even if it doesn't come though.

getting it out there?

Plea for suggestions,
I have gotten to point with my creations that I need to start looking for avenues to sell it. So far it has been by word of mouth and I have managed to sell everything pretty much as fast as I can make it. (I am very grateful and motivated by that) But ,like I said, it has been by word of mouth and very unpredictable. Since most of it is outdoor botanical stuff I though I might approach a local artsy garden store that has other metal art and homemade soaps.

steel patinas

Hey guys,
Everyone posts alot of information about patinas on copper. I am wondering if you can use these smae ideas on steel or do you have to use other ways. Does anyone know of a resource for steel patina techniques? I use a comercially made stuff to rust things. When I first spray it on the metal and it immediatly turns the steel a really nice pink. Is there a way to stop it in this stage?

Cast iron fix help

Welding

So I got a new torch and I want to try my hand at brazing (I have only MIG welded everything). I have an old ornamental piece from the top of a chimney that I have displayed in my living room. During the removal it broke in several places. I would like to try brazing to put it back together. I thought I could do this just on the back. How do I have to clean it? Do I need to grind any rust or just brush it and clean with something. What kind of brazing rod do I use? Any helpful tips would be very helpful.
