A Song of Ice and Fire | decor | foam | godswood | heart tree | help | prop | tree | wedding So I'm getting married to a Godlike man, but the date is not yet set. Should save us some stress and money having to plan ahead, but there seems to be a bit of difficulty. We planned out wedding theme to be based off of A Song of Ice and Fire book series by George R. R. Martin. Which means we will need a large heart tree for our vows instead of an arch or such. Great. Where did I happen to have the brilliant idea to build a ten to twelve foot tree out of a foam material instead of just changing plans? No idea, but I am sadly excited about the undertakiing of a large project. :3 But I am already stick at materials and designing the freakin' tree. So now I'm stuck up a tree looking for lightweight designs and building materials, but I don't think styrofoam will work. Suggestions, anyone? As some one who has been at

As some one who has been at a lot of weddings I have one bit of advice: Don't take it TOO seriously! This comes from working as a wedding DJ, various family events and story's from friends. In ALL cases the Couple that went with the flow had the best time and the least stress. It's not about the money or the schedule or the decorations. It is about the happiness and joy of the event. OK now on to your tree. That sounds like a very cool idea! I have worked on several theatrical productions that had huge trees in them. For Into the woods we had a forest of HUGE trees built onto 20 ft revolves! All of the trees had an armature built of some thing strong. Usually plywood or steel. The bulk was filled in with plywood or foam and then the outside was covered with chicken wire, cloth or paper and glue. The finishing touch was the paint job. The pain job is VERY important to get the realism. The above construction assumes this is a one shot set piece. IF you want to keep this as a memento then I would find a local metal artist and have it made out of some thing like steel or iron and finished such that it can be put in the garden. A flat sheet plasma cut and welded to an armature would be very cool looking. » reply ![]() I would try foam-core over

I've seen a lot of great
I've seen a lot of great trees made by artists who frequent this site. You might try a search for "tree" using the box at the top of the page, or the advanced search found under "community."
