Taking it to a new level

Whitesmithing | OT: Sandbox YAK

Hi everyone,

First of all I am really bummed that I missed the Shindig in Elk River. I hope there was a great turn out and I hope to be at the next one. I have learning a lot between this site and Metal Art and have finally decided to take my "hobby" to a new level.

For those of you who know the Minnesota area and associations, I had the opportunity to attend a workshop called "Imaginings and Intersections: Developing your career as an Artist" that was put on by Springboard for the Arts, MNArtists, and the Metropolitan Arts Council. A lot of good information but the best part of the whole day was the Artist round table at the end of the day. Established and emerging artists sharing thoughts, ideas, and frustrations. I learned a lot that day.

The name for my studio is "The Ardent Meld Studio" and I will be working with acrylic and copper and lighting. I will also still be doing wall sculpture.

I hope to have some new works posted soon, my husband is building me a shop at the back of the garage (6' x 15') small but it will work for now. It is soooo cool having the support that I have.

Still learning!!
Laurie

Congradulations Laurie!

Hi Laurie,
It sounds like you have been re-invented....and that's good. Once you have your studio (no matter how big or small) it will be your retreat. It took me years....
many.. before I finally got my dream studio. I have in total
3,600sq.ft which I share with my husband's workworking shop.
But I have 24 acres and plenty of space to work outside. It's my dream come true. So good luck and enjoy your space. Post some work for us to enjoy. Janet R.

Welcome to the life of independence

Can't say this enough... once you've established your own work space for the creations that you have made, will make you step into the realm of being your own boss... CONGRATS!
