Current Projects, Methods and Random Musing

| | | | |

Hrmm, I guess I need to really break down and get a digi-camera. Current project: I'm hand-carving a walking stick from Eastern Cedar, I'm doing inlay with Mother of Pearl and I'm gonna 'try' and get a cool copper ferrule for the tip. I have my eye on this piece of braided cable from my junk pile. If I can pull it off, it's gonna look nice.
I'm also building one of those corn bag games for my cousin's wedding. I'm doing the carriage bolts out of 5/8th round stock. It's kind of heavy metal inspired with lots of gratuitous nails and I'm going to add distressed leather handles. Once again, I'll try to get some pics up.
The moms wants some hooks for her purse collection, nothing fancy there, 5/8th round stock with some curliness.
By way of introduction, I'm sort of an apprentice level blacksmith, and I enjoy creating art objects/functional objects with multiple material incorporations... umm :) Big words for that I like to build pretty things.

Welcome to ArtMetal, Josh!

Welcome to ArtMetal, Josh! Yep, you should definitely get at least an inexpensive digital camera; these days, you can get a 2 or 3 megapixel dig camera for under fifty bucks and it will take fine pictures for posting and portfolio work when you're starting out. I don't think there's anyone here who doesn't like to see pictures posted - we all love them, so get the camera and get busy! :-)
