Tech Shop Coming to North Carolina

Good news for metalworkers and artisans in the Traingle area of NC .

I hear they are very close to buying a building and starting a techshop
somewhere near RTP. This is great for those of us who do not have a cad operated plasma machine, a huge bridgeport mill, watercooled Tig machine,
and a bunch of other things.
You can take classes in how to use them and you can pay to use the equipment at the site, daily monthly etc.

Has anyone else used Tech Shop out in California?

Looks like a good service

Looks like a good service Jim. I wonder if they are going to have any forges and blacksmithing tools set up. It would be great if we could use their service to have workshops or conferences, wouldn't it?

Thats a strong possibility

Thats a strong possibility Qui Que.
They are also hiring instructers and I think if you wanted to teach a forging course with them theres a bout a 99% of that being able to happen.

They are sounding very close to deciding on which building
to buy and maybe open in July? We'll see.

Heres some breaking news

Heres some breaking news about Tech shop Durham I just received ....

To answer some of the main questions that keep popping up:

The location will be near the airport, on the RTP side.
We are hoping to secure the building in about a month, and when we do, we will have another meet up AT THE BUILDING! I can hardly wait.
It will be at this meet up, that we will first offer pre-opening memberships. Remember, we will cap out at 500 memberships, so this would be a good time to grab your spot. Your clock won't start until you want it to, so even if you want to take classes for a month or two before you activate your membership, that will be fine. There will be a limit to how long you will be able to delay it though. Talk to us if there is a special situation. We'll work it out.

It will be at this meeting that we will be asking for volunteer help to build the Durham TechShop. We'll be looking for everything from manual labor to professional builders.

It will be at this meeting that we will be accepting money from the Lenders. We are looking for only 20 Lenders and have had more people than that check off that button on the email list so, if you want to be a lender, please email me soon.
We are asking the community (that's YOU) what you want to see in your TechShop, so if you have any ideas that are not likely to be in the core list of equipment, let me know. Our core list is pretty complete, but if you really want to make sure something is going to be there, like I said, let me know.
