Can anyone recommend a good source for smithing coal in the southeast. I am near Chapel Hill NC. I'm looking for a company that will UPS five gallon buckets of the stuff. ![]() coal

Fred Pugh just recently had 15-20 tns of Pocahuntas coal delivered to his place in the Pittsboro/Siler City area. I don't have a contact number but if it's not listed, Greg Walker 919 742-5538, Siler City may be able provide a number. ![]() Jim, Try Kayne and Sons in

Jim, Try Kayne and Sons in Candler. They sell it in 50#bags, I believe. The Kaynes are real blacksmiths and know good coal. Their website is www.blacksmithsdepot.com and their coal is $20/50# bag. They're good people to deal with. Rich ![]() even the new guy agrees!

I have purchased some hammers from Kayne and Sons and they have always been quick and courteous. Even when the hobbyist from NJ asks silly questions they were pleasant and prompt. ![]() coal in Pittsboro

I use to buy good pocahontas
I use to buy good pocahontas grade coal by the truck load in Winston-Salem. That was about 5 years ago. I've heard they no longer supply it though. Best bet is to search with google on "John C. Campell" school or "Penland School of Crafts" and ask them who they get their coal from. Both schools are in the mountains of NC. So if they are getting coal, its likely it will be on the east coast. Sorry that I couldn't help you more.
