I want to pour unheated silver granuals in a graphite mold and heat in my kiln. How hot should it be set and how long should it be held?

melting silver in a kiln

Hi, please be very careful in this endeavor. I have melted silver (both fine & sterling) in a kiln. You really need to consider safety precautions like clothing, ventilation, fireproofing & so on. I don't know your experience but, taking a class & reading books like Practical Casting, A Studio Reference by Tim McCreight would be a good idea. Metal casting can be very dangerous & could result in serious injury. Also, the inside of your kiln will eventually be coated with silver which could affect firing enamels or any sort of glass - it will change their color.
