HI ALL FROM Paradise Island Lane

Some of us have our life changed by small degrees and others suddenly, for me dec 27th 2007,it was the end of a 30+ years occupation as a chef and kitchen manager but I was lucky as a teen to learn smithing from one of the few Iroquois silversmiths still working with the knowledge passed down generation to generation. The Navaho were not the only native tribe to use smithing but the Iroquois learned a few tricks from the French. I even still have a necklace passed down at least 150 or more years each generation added to it, and I will do so as well. One of the first things I learned is, if you want to learn how to make jewelry first you have to learn to make your tools. Well Now that I am in need of a new occupation that will allow for a few restrictions, I will be making jewelry, So I am making my tools. While I am making my tools, I will be making some to sell, I do make some of the nicest chasing and repousse tools you will ever see. but my jewelry skills are a bit rusty, so I have some relearning to do,
best wishes to all

150 year old necklace

I do not know what i will do with it. the kids do not want it and it is sitting in a bank safe, locked away where no one can see it. seam like a crime but It would not be safe in my home. thought about selling or donating it. I am only half native (my father) so I have no trible rights. and my kids do not want anything to do with that part of their dna cant blame them its hurts to be called white by your own family infront of my kids. life goes on and this is still a part of our history. outmoded traditions and all. I do have a photo some where i will try to post it.
best wishes
Jen

Hello back

Welcome, isn't it strange how life changes on us? I never had any thoughts about being an artist until I took a welding class 2 years ago. Lin
