Helpful plasma cutting idea

I just wanted to give something back to the ArtMetal community. Maybe this has been pointed out elsewhere, but nowhere else have I seen it.

entrance gateentrance gate

The design for this gate I came up with on Photoshop. It took me a long time..finding different pictures, cropping them, turning them into silhouettes, pasting them together etc. It helps to have a printer/scanner: some parts are easier done by hand once you get to a certain point so you print out what you have designed, fill in what you need to by hand, scan it back when you are done...etc etc. I have practically no drawing capabilities. But I stuck with it.

When I had finished the design, I built the gate into one piece, conforming to the outline of the drawing.

Then I was able to take my digital projector hooked into my laptop and shoot the image up on to the steel. I bought a cheap Chinese job off of Ebay for about $300 but you can find better prices now for projectors.

I just traced it out with sharpie. Any color works well. Don't use fine tip (they wear out too fast).

Then cut it out.

I have done many other plasma cut metal art projects that look machined to the untrained eye.

Nice Gate, I like the rustic

Nice Gate,
I like the rustic posts too, and the projector would be a good way to transfer designs onto the sheet - may have to look on ebay for a bargain!
