A 'shindig' of sorts

|

I was lucky enough to meet up with some online metalsmiths a week or so ago in PA. What a great time we had! I ame in from MD, one from NJ, one from NJ, another two from PA.

So in reading the Sandbox today and seeing the reminder of the Shindig - though its too far for me to go - I encourage everyone to attempt to attend! It is SO good to get together with online friends - to share and show and encourage. :)

Speaking of cold connections

Jewelry | | |

There have been a couple of blog posts re: cold connections. I began my 'metal' art by working in wire, from there I moved to incorporating some sheet but working all cold. (then I moved to a torch for headpins and reticulating and from there it was an easy jump to soldering...lol)

FOLD FORMING (PICS)

Jewelry | |

I have been learning some fold forming, from Lewton-Brains site and ganoksin and other online jewelry forums. I am only beginning to scratch the surface, but here are some pieces I have done.

Patination of sterling (NEW pics included)

Jewelry

I just read an older blog entry about patinas and there were some comments about sterling and the general idea that one could really only get grey to black. I'd like to share a different perspective.

Pumpkin? in repousse you say?

Jewelry | |

Yes, that is what I said. I loved the tomatoes on the vine that 'walker' did and since I have been itching to try some repousse...I thought maybe a pumpkin would be a sort of easy shape to work with. And it was...however, I don't really know what I'm doing! lol

Coming out of lurkdome

Jewelry

OK, so I found ArtMetal quite some time ago - got in on the email list (sandbox) and then signed up here not to long ago...but I've never really gotten too involved. A post on sandbox about deer drew me out of lurk-mode albeit briefly...then I wandered back over here.
