What company besides Jax has a good patina

Hi Everyone,
Next week I'm ready to patina my sunflower pieces. In the past I got patina from Modern Options in California...they had the best patinas with the best results. Now I find they aren't in business. I don't like Jax products. Anyone know of another patina company???? Janet R.

Easy

Just type in "Art Chemicals". Still in Ca and you have to watch what you buy if Hazmat (Ron Young products, just a dealer on the corner to buy the goods). Or you can try the place in Col where you can buy the chemicals and not pay the Hazmat

I've used triple s chemical

I've used triple s chemical and they were ok. They weren't real helpful on the phone but they do offer a sample pack for about $60. This lets you get 6-7 small bottles of whatever patina you want.

What color did you want the

What color did you want the patina to be base on? if you just want to antique them, use lime sulfur from a plant department.

Bronze tone on steel

I'm looking to get the classic bronze tone which I always accomplished with pewter black, a patina by Modern Options.
Ron Youngs products are all based on putting that weird top coat over the metal then patinating the top coat. I don't like it , it looks too much like paint!Any suggestions? janet R.

Patina

Check out some of the shops that offer patinas used for changing the color of came used in stained glass. I believe it is called NOVACAN BLACK PATINA for solder - lead.

A small bottle is inexpensive and if it works you can always contact the manufacturer to see if they will sell it to you in larger volume.

still available?

They still seem to be available online at a number of different locations. There own website doesn't say they are out of business, but maybe they haven't gotten around to it yet.

Anyways, it seems that the out of business thing would be rather recent, and so the places that distribute the product would still have stock left.

Patinas

Janet, We offer several patinas. However they are not chemicals that will react with the metal. Take a look on our website

Hi Janet

I don't know much about patinas. Well, actually I don't know anything about patinas :-), but here's the two companies I've used for blacking iron. They both carry patinas.
