Mystic Topaz RIng

Sorry this isn't quite metal related, but it will be once it's made...I was just wondering if anyone might know of a dealer that sells Mystic Topaz Gemstones. I have a customer that wants me to make her a ring with this stone, and she wants it to be the square (princess) cut. I haven't been able to find it. All the ones I've come across are the Emerald cut.

Thanks!

Jamie

Mystic topaz is just a colorless topaz that has been dyed or artificially colored, as I understand it, so I would think any online lapidary supply or maybe even Rio Grande would sell them.

Mystic Topaz

Jamie,
Try Stuller. In recent years the variety of their offerings has grown. Someone there might be able to help you find what you want. There was a company I used to use out of Atlanta called Darling Imports. It is family owned and they give great customer service. I hope this helps. I love the pieces I have seen of yours. I am hoping to post some things this next month but I am moving and have commissions and shows to prepare for. Wish you the best.

The stone itself is actually coated with a chemical to create the prismatic colors. Be careful because it can be removed. Polish piece well before setting and then be cautious.

Thanks Stefani, for the advice on the stones, and thanks for the compliments too! I've been warned about this stone, so I'll do my best to be very cautious.
Wish you well with the move and your shows!
