THE FOUNTAINHEAD...

After the week I had last week with all the up and downs, and twists and turns my boyfriend brought over the movie "THE FOUNTAINHEAD." We have watched this movie before, but it never really hit home with me until now. The speech in the courtroom towards the end of the movie really moved me. I think all artists can relate deeply to the overall message of the movie, and if you have never seen this movie I encourage you to watch it. Ayn Rand's message of individualism is powerfully displayed! Hope you enjoy this masterpiece! Cheers, Jamie Santellano ![]() multi-layered book

hi jamie.. not seen the movie, but i have read the book. you also would like "atlas shrugged." one aspect that is interesting to me is that both push a conservative agenda. she sets up a debate between selflessness (liberalism) and selfishness (conservatism). the argument is that people should do for themselves and not rely on others. charity, in this argument, is bad because it perpetuates poverty and failure. former fed chief alan greenspan (appointed by reagan) was a friend of ayn rand's and an adherent to her philosophy... that said, the fountainhead has launched many an architect's career.. i had trouble with how she portrayed women.. especially the "love" scene.. keith ![]() ayn rand liked a good beating

especially if she was catching it. i've always thought that she should have left the sex out. it gives her detractors an easy out by calling the writing perversion rather than dealing with real issues that are brought up. ![]() The message I got was more

The message I got was more about following your own voice. Doing what you love under "your," own terms and not follow what someone else thinks is best. I by nature am NOT a conservative, but when it comes to my art I will NOT compromise my dream to fit someone's requests. I was asked to do so in an earlier post, and so this movie seem to fit the theme. Thanks for the comments! Jamie Santellano ![]() hold tight

I have quite a few of her books. Most of them are non-fiction. In my opinion, the fiction are best read in this order: We the Living, the Fountainhead, Atlas Shrugged. I don't agree with all she wrote, but I do identify with the idea of "Second Handers' and Who has the right to tell me how to live my life? Gerald ![]() Gerald, Thanks! I'll have

Gerald, Thanks! I'll have to check those out. I went through a real eye opener almost two weeks ago...had to make some decisions about what I create and what customers request. The movie spoke loud and clear about staying true to "your" heart no matter what the cost, and helped me to put things in perspective for myself. I know truly what I want and I've set my terms...I choose to lead and not follow...I will create and they will come... Cheers, Jamie Santellano |

Read the book, too.
The movie is good, but the book is great. It is what the Hollywood crowd didn't get to alter at all.
