Monique's aluminum face

|

I managed to get the face pretty much done. Made a female hammer form to rough out the shape. Shrunk a football shape to get started then hammered into the form to rough out.. Then hammered over the mannequin face for more detail before going to the pitch pot.. This was a test piece but even though I had to repair a couple blow outs, it came out good enough that I'm going on to other parts now.

female hammer

Hi,
I'd love to see the female hammer you made. Do you mean that it has a concave face, so that it will have more contact when hammering over a domed stake? I've been thinking about doing something like that, but some friends have put the idea down.

Thanks guys. I appreciate

Thanks guys. I appreciate it. Today I finished the top of her skull and most the lower neck. I'm going up to a regional MetalMeet near Quincy IL this weekend and will probably finish the head unless I get interested in something else.

I'm going to use a very fine copper wire for a short spiky hairdoo.

I got some chasing tools from Gene Olsen which will help me greatly.

hammer form

Hi Kerry, Did you make the former out of solid or short lengths using the end grain? Did you work it hot or cold and did it need annealing often?
Anyway good job, nice features.
