windswept tree

|

This is what we have been working on through the winter ... a tree for outside the castle walls on the edge of the sea ..... It looks a lot flatter than it will be cos I still have to polish and colour before putting it together in 3d ....

Looks great !

That looks great ! How many leaves have you got there? I bet you have been most of the winter on it to get that many.

fantastic, love the

fantastic, love the overlapping lines of the branches, stunning, must have spent days hammering out leaves. it must have looked like your own private autumn next to the anvil! Are they forged out from the stock material? How many hours are in the project or do you not dare to count!!!?
Anyway just thought i would say how fantastic it was.

glad you like it

the forge has been crowded out with branches and leaves since December .... yesterday was the first with no snow on the ground outside the doors so I took the opportunity to spread everything out .... I can't wait to get all the elements polished and coloured .... I have kept the sections smaller so that I can colour them in the oven ..it will take too long with torches.
My assistant Ramsay did 90% of the forging so this will make a nice addition to his cv ..... yes, everything is hammered from round bar ...windswept tree leaveswindswept tree leaves10mm to 30mm ...I deliberately chose a cross texture to emphasise the sweep ..a lot of this will move in the wind

I remember an old Icelandic poem

The Windswept Tree

I know I hung on the windswept Tree

through nine days and nights

I was struck with a spear and given to Odin,

myself given to myself

They helped me neither by meat nor drink

I peered downward, I took up the runes,

screaming, I took them - then I fell back.

Hi Guisseppe, the tree looks

Hi Guisseppe, the tree looks amazing. I can almost feel the wind just looking at it. I really like the few leaves struggling to hang on, very realistic. I'll bet it will be quite a site from the sea.
