Concerning solder

Good day all, I am very inexperienced with connecting ferris to non ferris. As I understand it, copper brass bronze etc. may be braised to steel with a standard flux coated bronze rod. On occasion I use bronze rod to just fill in to add color. Could I use a non lead solder for color and get the same results. Example being; I just completed a beefalo as half the people that viewed it saw it as a bull the other half a Bison. I used a piece of bus tail pipe for the body and a 45 degree pipe fitting for the head then layered the head end with bicycle chain tapering down to mid-way of the back. I filled in most of the chain links with weld bead leaving what was hanging over the sides untouched so they would move. Filling in with mig bead gave the appearance of fur. Then I splashed the top hump with bronze rod giving a more rustic look. Is this a practical way to add texture and color or is there a better way. Someone gave me 2 silver braising rods, would they have worked for color as well? Could I drip low temp solder to fill in? Oh, I used XL draft horseshoes for legs and bead covered bolts for holves. (sp)?

Too many flux fumes

Hi All, I'm a newbi with limited pc skills but good attitude about learning. My very bright neighbor is going to help me take a couple pictures of my work and show me how to put them in my blog and show a picture of myself. My favoriate past-time is shoppin (creating in my shop not buying at Walmart) I use that term when I get calls to condense the chit chat. I am very impressed by your member galleries and hope to add a trick or two to my meager skills. I can't spell either. Please show me some love so I can loosen up and feel like a neighbor. My compliments to all
