Advertising my art

According to you guy's, what would be the best way to advertize my art and myself as a sculptor? Are there any magazines or places that you would recommend?

Hi Gillis,

Hi Gillis,

I would try The Crafts Report, or Sculpture Magazine www.sculpture.org

I believe the Welding Journal has featured Artists in their publications as well.

I think you should also work on getting a website for starters. This way if you are advertising in any type of publication then you have a source where you can refer to, so your work can be seen. Most want to see an on-line portfolio-this is what was mentioned at a class I took on creating compelling websites for artists.

Yes I did create my own

Yes I did create my own site. It was hard at first, but after getting to know how the site works things got better. I paid a very small fee ($50.00) for the year to get mine up and going. It's not quite where I want it to be, but now I'm reading some books on how to get better optimization, html and css code, web design books to further my knowledge with it. In time it will all fall together.

One of my latest things is I don't want to spend lots of money on things when I know there's a way to do it for free! I know that sounds cheap, but why not utilize the free stuff, and spend the money on materials, so that I can turn out great quality pieces, which will speak for itself. Don't you think?

On the other side, it does take a great deal of time, but I at least have the full control over my site. Free Webs has a great template for beginners, and has lots of features to get yourself going. Let me know if you have any questions.
