First post. First share.

I have been registered here for well over a year now... and this is my first time posting. HooRah!

Copper has been my art/heart for nearly 6 years, discovered repousse/chasing in a little mom & pop art supply in Florida shortly after my son was born and thought "I can do that!". The process being far more compliant to parenting a newborn compared to painting. And so I have been manipulating the metal ever since.

I work on 32g copper sheets and have done pieces as small as a silverdollar (xmas ornaments) and the largest being about a foot squared. Have one 3'x4' commission pending which I'm excited and nervous to undertake. I work from photos sometimes, and sometimes my own drawings depending on how I feel.

Still trying to get myself motivated enough to market my abilities and technique. I guess this is a first step. I'm often doing searches to see who's doing what with the metal elsewhere on the interwebs, but there seems to be so little out there. Is it such a lost art form still?

In any case. Here's recent evidence of my efforts. I'm glad to see that there is some community for it. :)

(it always makes me a little sad how difficult it is to capture the fire colored patina's in photographs... *sigh*)

welcome

You have at least 5 years of practice on me but welcome to Artmetal. We look forward to seeing some of you work and learning from these years of metal working...i'm too old for the infant parenting part, but with 3 daughters over 30 i guess i managed to either do ok or delegate in the right places to my spouse.

Hey, the pictures came through late. Do you teach?

Welcome

a, if this is what you do

a,

if this is what you do as a hobby then i think you're ready to go pro. this is excellent work.

i'm sort of in the same boat as you. i got really discouraged with playing the gallery scene (i have trouble kissing up to people) and had not made any attempts to put my work out there for almost a year. i got lucky in that i spoke to the right people in a coffee shop and seven of my pieces just got picked up by a high end home decor shop.

don't be afraid to try and don't sell yourself short. you've got obvious skill and talent.

You have an obvious talent for this.

You have an obvious talent for this. It is quite obvious to those of us who are trying to become better at this. Welcome here and I hope you will share more with us as you go along. I have no doubt that you will be selling quite soon.
