Jim,

I am a practicing self taught metalsmith with a passion for process. I design with process in mind and the careful use of my media. I have been doing this since the '70s and love every minute of it. I have taught adult classes for over 20yrs and now only do workshops. I consider myself a "hammerman" and have little interest in other processes due to a limited lifespan. So much to learn and so little time. Forging, raising, reppousage, and fabrication are the routes I use to reach my design.

I also moderate the forum for the Society of American Silversmith and The Arts & Crafts Society (a forum dedicated to the Arts & Crafts Movement)

Fred, Welcome to ArtMetal!

Fred,

Welcome to ArtMetal! Thanks for joining us, I can see you're going to be a terrific asset to this group.

I really like the contrasting textures and movements in that pin, and the craftsmanship is meticulous. Like you, I'm mostly a "hammerman" and have focused my efforts on raising and blacksmithing. I look forward to seeing much more of your work posted here. Thanks!
