Thank you for the example Frank!
I think I am gravitating toward creating the body from clay/wax or some unknown (to me - duhhh) medium and then forming with metal - eliminating the original medium somewhere during the process.

Paper Patterns

Hi Dino,
I've been using clay to make a model, then I cover the clay with paper(card stock). The tucks tell me where to shrink.The paper patterns tell me how to cut the metal pieces. This is nothing new but it might be to you.

Stump

Hi Dino,
I do use a bag(old leather purse)occasionally.However it seems that most of the pieces are too small, so I use a variety of stumps with a depression carved out.Most of my dollies are home made.
