Brown Re(rod)cluse

| |

A tiny spider built a dome shaped web in one of my tetrahedron stands. It was precisely in the center of the stand. I was fascinated with his web. I made a rendition of this tiny creature out of re-rod. It looks very much like him but instead of 1/4" , he is two feet long. A frien saw this sculpture and named it Brown Re(rod)cluse. The name stuck.

Your Lucky!

Frank,
Your lucky that's all you got (a good view). Stay away from those spiders. They are very nasty and you DO NOT want to get bit by one. Trust me. I'd rather look at the metal one's! Ha.

Filmy Dome Spider

Hi Lorrie,
I guess I misled you. The spider that I saw and made a rendition of was an innocent Filmy Dome Spider, not really a Brown Recluse. The name given to the sculpture is just a clever use of terms that someone suggested. We actually have some Brown Recluse spiders here in the UP Michigan. Not in the wild though.
