Minimalist Eagle

| |

I tried to portray a Bald Eagle head, in 3 dimensions using the a minimal amount of pieces. There's twelve pieces including the hook. Included are three views as it is difficult envision the Eagle without moving your head. Wadda ya think?

Specs

Hi Rick,
You're right about the specs. I think the next one will have rounder eyes.Funny thing... While cutting the metal for the eyes(specs) I didn't cut through and tried to snap off the piece. In doing so I accidentally punctured my hand with the rusty re-rod. A trip to the emergency resulted. I have some art metal holding the hole closed. The doctor tried and FAILED to correctly apply the staples. She tried five times and had to remove four messed up staples. I finally said 'one staple should be fine' I wanted super glue, but didn't get my way.

Hi frank,
Hope you`re recovered from the eagle puncture... just a funny note, that could join Jason`s list huh! not to talk about the doctor stapling your hand over and over, causing probably more pain than fixing. Serious now, wish you well Frank! nelson.

Staple is GONE !

Hi Nelson,
I removed the ridiculous staple myself this morning. If the wound opens up, I'm putting a dab of super glue on it. Thinking of checking with the local optometrist to see if he might be interested in an eagle with glasses for an office decoration.Might as well go with the flow,eh?

Frank, My hats off to you on

Frank,

My hats off to you on the execution of the eagle head. It is difficult to strip the design and still maintain the qualities that make it an eagle. Congratulations.

Best,
Fred

Long ways to go yet Frank. here's a link to the progress. http://www.eartheagleforge.com/workinprogress.html emailed the photos to my client and he seems pleased. I'm just so happy he is a patient man, willing to wait till i'm finished.
I work on it only one day a week, in between other jobs. hows your hand??

Amazing Detail

Hi Paula,
I just got through viewing your website. The amount of detail on that bird is impressive. You really stayed true to the clay model.I can see why it will take a long time to complete.
My hand is essentially healed.

Eagle

Paula, that is stunning! How are you creating the feathers? Is it reposee' or are you welding them on individually?

Frank I love your eagle head. Less is more!

dremel and a carbide bit. I build up weld on the head and dremel it into submission. make a feather out of the weld that is :) i sand blasted the head so i could see the details better. that's why it looks gray, almost clay like. but it is steel....

Move'n On

Hi Peggy,
Thank you very much. This project has led me to another.I'm attempting to make an entire eagle in the same fashion.I did make a blog entry with included images of the new eagle in progress.Since then I have nearly completed the legs and talons.Hopefully I'll begin the wings today.I hope things are going well for you, and looking forward to seeing your next art jewel.
