Medicine Eagle w Feathers

| | | |

I finally got feathers on Medicine Eagle. The picture is poor, I'll take a better one in daylight. His eyes are brass and held in temp for the picture. I made provisions to hang him like a mount, but after trying to lift him, I know the bracket needs to be made sturdier. Galvanizing is the plan.

Hi Jamie

Hi Jamie,
I'm responding to your comment on this blog post instead of the picture. Thanks for the compliment. I have been picking away at making and attaching the feathers, a little here and a little there. I'm guessing maybe twenty hours were needed to cut out, shape and attach the feathers. They vary from 12 inches long to 4 inches.I never keep track of the time it takes me to do a project.

Predator

Hi Michelle & Andy,
Thank you.The Bald Eagle has recovered quite well here in Michigan's UP and can be seen often, but each time is still thrilling. They are efficient predators, that's the essence I hope to have portrayed.

Hi Frank, the Eagle head is amazing. It looks big, I remember seeing the frame, but I guess I didn't realize it's size. It'll look cool on a wall.

Thought About You

Hi Nelson.
Thanks. I was mowing the grass(weeds) when I came upon a native Orchid the Pink Lady SlipperLady SlipperLady Slipper and it made me think of you living where all those exotic plants thrive.

Frank, don`t know what to

Frank, don`t know what to say, other than it`s rather difficult to watch birds and don`t have a flash of you in mind. Speaking of birds,I hope to take a pic of a species that nest every year in my big back yard.If someone approaches their nest site (They lay on the ground) the birds just go wild, take on flight and attack anything that may be a threat to the nest or chicks. They have spurs on their wings and make excellent watchbirds. You can bet there`s something around when they turn noisy, but the racoons usually manage to assault the eggs at night...Guess what, I`ve got the upper part of the macaws beak done. Shame on me! Take care. nelson.
