New Heart

|

I was approached by our local Historical Society to make a sculpture of the 'Tin Man'. The sculpture is to honor a member who has recently had a heart transplant.I still need to finish the shoes and add the new heart, but thought it would be OK to show what is done so far.Since the Tin Man is a gathering of metal components, but alive, I strove to animate this piece utilizing position and gesture.Hopefully I'll finish the shoes and heart today, so I can get back to Medicine Eagle.

So I'm assuming that the "Tin Man" is hinged to be able to move his arms and legs? It's quite whimsical Frank. I have one question/comment though. Wouldn't it be great if you had a little hinged door on his chest that could be opened to see a heart in it? Just a thought.

I love the creative artwork you have been showing us. Your birds are fabulous, and I'm sure this piece is going to communicate just as well.

Thanks for sharing your visions!

Thanks QuiQue

Hi QuiQue,
I'm honored by your comments.Sorry, but the legs and arms are welded fast in one position. They are meant to appear movable only.I like the idea having the heart behind a hinged door, however I just completed him before reading this post. He has a copper heart glued to his chest.
I love this group and hope my contributions repay in some part the inspiration and knowledge all the artists bring here every day.
