Medicine Eagle Armature

| | | | |

Medicine Eagle's armature is pretty much complete.I might add a facility to hang it from a (sturdy) wall. It is, however, getting a bit weighty.I need to finish the beak and then it's feathers.

Behind on the posting

Frank,
I have really been enjoying watching you make all of your birds. I was going to comment earlier but not much time here at home on the computer. Yeah birds are fun to make, I have made a few too (giggle). Have you ever thought of making like a rotisserie to hold you birds why you make them? Makes it a little easier to flip them around why you build them. I can remember too many times flip them over and over putting feathers on them,
Anyhow cool eagle head, how big is it?
If you ever get down around Detroit give me a holler.

Rotisserie

Hi Warren,
Thanks for the tip on using a rotisserie. I guess the stand for this bird head is one of sorts. It will rotate on the vertical axis, and yes it has made construction much easier. I can easily take it out doors to weld too.The eagle head is thirty inches long, and a few inches proud of five feet on the stand.Maybe sometime this summer I'll get down to Detroit. I'll let you know and we can swap spits for a spell.

Nice progress, Frank! Great

Nice progress, Frank! Great to watch, and very inspirational. Are you using stainless for this? If so, what type? I have an (utilitarian) outdoor home project to do, and want to use stainless.

Mild Steel

Hi Rob,
Thank you.I'm using ordinary re-rod for the armature and mild steel for the sculpture. I'm seriously contemplating having the piece galvanized though.
