Sorry about the picture quality. I have applied most of the body feathers. Some of the wing feathers are on.

Ok Breaks over

Frank,
What are your plans for a base? How did the other one do in it's show? Leading edge wings should be interesting. Looking good. Keep posting I look forward to seeing your progress. Breaks over. Brad

Base?

Hi Brad,
I'm not sure of the base yet. I was thinking of making a branch stick out a few inches forward of the bird's feet as if he was just about to light on it.
I showed the two other birds at a business after hours show in our little town and got lots of raves but no purchase offers. Munising is a very small community, and I asked $2500 for each, which is more than most people are willing to part with here.I'm not sure I priced them right, but decided to stick it out and see what the tourist season can do this summer. The juried show at the DeVos museum and gallery will notify, if I was accepted, on April 7th. I've got my fingers crossed.I am truly a babe in the woods concerning this trade. Finding this group has been a Godsend, but I need to get more mud in my toes.

You'll do fine

Frank,
Wildlife art has it's own market, independent of the art gallery world.. It's taken years for most galleries to realise that wildlife art is a big market. Some galleries still don't know about it. Wildlife groups like Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants unlimited, Pro Bass, have members that know about wild life artists. I'll bet there is a hunting or fishing group near you. Believe it or not some of those guys are real nature lovers, They are quite knowledgeable and they do buy wildlife art. So do Sierra club and Izaak Walton League members. Conservation commissions, park and recreation boards and agriculture related industries all know about wildlife artists. They may not know of Jackson Pollock or Andy Warhol but they will know who's art is on their trout stamp or their duck stamp. Explore that market. Reach those people, they by and large don't go to art galleries. 2cents worth. Brad
