Thanks, I'm not sure exactly where they are going in Yankton just yet. They have developed a riverwalk and the call to artists was to find sculpture to decorate the walk for a year, then I believe they have another call. I'll find out more in January. Jake Jake Balcom » reply Congrats!

Thanks Gerald, I believe I have to deliver them in May, which might be more difficult than I expected now. I submitted two proposals in order to better my chance at having one of them accepted, I never really gave much thought to the idea of them both being accepted. They're not terribly large, but fitting them both in a pickup bed might be a problem. Might have to caravan. Jake Jake Balcom » reply CONGRTULATIONS!!! Jake I

Thanks Will. This has been the most successful proposal styles that I've tried. It's so nerve racking trying to put so much info on one page. Although both forms are pretty organic, they shouldn't be too difficult to make, I took fabrication into consideration when designing these. Might make the "legs" on the traveler removable to aid in transport, but we'll see. I am sympathetic and often unsure as well as too how much time to put in to these. I've ended up making the decision to only create design proposals that I'd like to build whether i get the commission or not, resubmitting to other calls if it is within the scope of the call. Sooooo much of getting a commission is in the proposal and wording, this is the 3rd revision of the Traveler proposal. Not quite sure why i like this design so much, but i do. I want to make a gigantic one, 30-50 feet tall some day. I just imagine driving down a two lane highway and seeing this form on the horizon, getting bigger and bigger and saying under my breath "what in the hell......." lol. There is a gigantic concrete head somewhere in Germany that is other worldly. Very commanding, and it can be seen for miles. Probably won't happen, but my fingers are crossed. Hope all is well across the pond Jake Jake Balcom » reply |
