Thanks Nelson, the material is mild steel, and the blue tone was kind of an accident and developed while i was wire brushing with a grinder after forging it(in the cooldown stage). I've done this before on thicker material and ended up with a silver finish, but here it was blue. I though it was kind of a nice contrast so i left it.

Thanks Paula, I saw this technique in a floral magazine only it was done with long thing leaves. Even though the straps were only about 1/16" thick by the time i was done beating on them, the thickness really started to add up, creating challenges where multiple pieces overlapped. Ended up feeling like i was putting together a puzzle, lol. Next time i try this, i think ill use a more 3d(roundish) textured stock of some sort and make the basket a little looser.

I really like your piece....love the basket effect...I'm thinking about sending the dragon, it's a small piece and I really love it, have to get it out of the gallery....and send it off.....SteelyJan

Thanks Janet, I want to try to make some giant baskets with really crazy profiles this summer. Hopefully there is time and space in the shop, lol. I think the dragon will be a big hit, I'm excited to see all of our work up together.

OK-changed my mind, trying another design.

Hi Lorrie and thanks for the compliment, sorry about the delay in responding. I'll trust your judgment on whether to use a stand or shelf, that way you'll have some latitude arranging the booth.

Your repousse piece looks really cool, can't wait to see the end results.

Just for what it is worth the picture you posted is not the same piece that I brought.
The picture is of #1 and I brought #2. Yeah I guess I should of added to the title. If you notice in this picture it is missing something?
#3 is still in the thinking stage along with #4 and #5 when it emerges completely.
