wax finish started

|

Hi all,

Hi all, started putting on the wax finish today and I think it went pretty good. I ended up using a mixture of Butchers paste wax, beeswax, boiled linseed oil, turpentine, and Japan drier. The first section I did ended up feeling pretty waxy, so I added a little more linseed oil and japan drier and the second section ended up good. I tried buffing off the build up with a shoe polish brush after about an hour or so and it seem to just gunk up the brush with wax. Am i buffing to early or do i just need to use a different brush for the final buff tomorrow before I apply the Butchers wax? After drying overnite the first rail is still very waxy, should I worry about the waxy feel or will the solvents in the Butchers wax break that down a little?

wax finish

Hi,
It sounds to me like you applied it too thickly. I would try buffing with a soft clean cloth, rather than s brush.
