blacksmithing | fence | floral | forgework | railings | rose Hi all, Here are a few photos of a sample I just finished for some fencing around the Lincoln City Rose Garden which is getting a giant facelift. The design came from the landscape architect running the project and kind of has an art deco feel to it. The leaves and petals were cut with a plasma cutter and then forged to their final shape. I used the large ladle dish in a green-mengal B swage block to form the rose and I textured the vine by carving lines into an old hammer and using it on 1"x1/2" solid bar stock. I'll post a few picts when I start fabricating the panels. Jake Jake, I joined this site a

Jake, I joined this site a few weeks back and although I`m not too good with memory, quickly ssociate distintive work with his author. Remember your forged vegetation work, and now these simple yet outstanding roses. Some serious hammering huh! What the scale and thicknes of petals? Did you power hammer or simple grease elbow? Thanks Nelson, the petals are 7ga mild steel and are roughly 8-1/2" long and about 3" tall for the outer petals. The get smaller and as the go in, but not as much as you'd think till the center. The entire rose is 7-1/2" in diameter and is roughly 3" tall. There was no power hammering here, just plain old elbow grease and determination. Actually it wasn't bad at all, it was more difficult to hang on to the petals while forming them in the dish than to hammer them out. Seemed like elbows and tongs were all over the place. :) I'll be sure to post some picts when i get finished. Jake » reply Jake, Those are great Arts &
