Press Release: Mettle Design Brings on Two New Members

This last christmas Mettle Design lost one of it's principle investors due to cancer. Cisco was a primary reason Mettle Design made it through the first six years with increasing success.

Although Cisco can never really be replaced, Mettle design would like to welcome two new members to it's team, India and Roxy. Their primary responsibilities will be aiding in concept development, helping land new customers, and a little bit of security. The best part is that they agreed to work for treats and at least one game of fetch per day. I've tried this payment technique with other employees in the past with very little success, so we're happy that they accepted the offer. :) We are sure they will be an asset to the future of Mettle Design.

Sorry Jake!

I didn't get to this post yet. Sorry about Cisco! Been there and it's too hard. I've been avoiding buying another dog but I'm really missing my studio companion. Janet R.

Jake- I'm so sorry to hear

Jake-
I'm so sorry to hear about Cisco. I know it is really hard to loose a friend (especially that kind of friend) that has been such an important part of your life. Congratulations, however, on getting a couple of very cute new helpers (and especially thanks for the pictures). I could not imagine a day going by without at least a couple of dogs underfoot during the work (and non-work) days. Please be sure to post additional pictures of their escapades as life goes on!

It is so sad to lose our animal companions. We have had only very short periods of not having an animal in the house and the house felt very empty. It's good that you have such cute pups to love.

Thanks everyone for all of

Thanks everyone for all of your kind words. We miss Cisco a lot, but she had a good run. She was almost 13yrs old which is pretty old for a rottwieler. I'm sure these two new additions will add a lot of excitement(probably both good and bad) over the next year or so until they mature. March 8th is when we can go pick them up, so we'll post some more picts then.

Sorry

Jake, sorry to hear about Cisco, sounded like a good dog. The boxers are cute. Sure do not look like that when they get older, I always like their big wide back. Aunt had one and us boys would see how many Army man he could carry. (she lived in Fremont)

Thanks Warren, I'm sure the puppies will quickly gain the typical mug of a boxer. Once they're bigger I'll have my nephew see how many plastic army men he can get on their backs and let you know.:) Do you have a lot of family in Nebraska?

Many

Jake, yeah probably a couple hundred. I was born in Omaha, dad from Fremont and mom from Loup City. My grandfather use to be the town blacksmith in Arcadia. Little farming town of 450 people. If you broke a piece of farm equipment, he could weld and repair or make a new one. Old shop with big coke forge and belt driven machines. This was back from 1930 to 1990.

I grew up in Kearney and most of my family on my fathers side is from up around Cozad and Eustis. Looks like metalwork is in your blood, did you get your start in metalwork from your grandfather? What ended up taking you to Michigan?

Great Grampa Ole Olson, was

Great Grampa Ole Olson,
was a tenth generation blacksmith, and town constable in Grasmark Varmland Sweden. He followed the kids to America to retire, but they built him a forge to play with.

Dad told me how the county grader/plow broke an axle out by their place in Wisconsin and how Great Grampa and friends fluxed and fit the ends together in the forge, heated the whole center of the axle up to temp and then danced, two strikers on the ends of the axle striking in time, with the joint still in the forge.
They wore out the machine before the repaired axle.

Moved a lot

Jake, my dad was in the Air Force so moved around a lot and retired in Michigan. Really do not know if was my Grandfathers influence or not but when I was 12 I pick up the welding rod butts in his shop so I could use the arc welder.
Gene cool story about your Great Grandpa. My grandfather worked for the railroad at the turn of the century and would travel around with forge and such and repair the trains when they broke a part.
