Wow, Jake!! That is amazing. The design alone truly incredible, and the execution is outstanding. The owners must have been thrilled. Can I ask you how you made the large steel balls? » reply This railing is great. It

Thanks Rob, Frank, and Mele, I just realized how little info I put in the blog and apologize. The design is all mine, but due to budget and especially time constraints, most of the pieces were purchaced from King's Arch Metals. (That's where the 2" solid ball came from Rob) The pictures don't do the powder coat justice, maybe because there are so many earth tones in the restaurant and the poor lighting. It is a high use commercial space so the choices for materials/finishes were either stainless or powdercoat and due to the budget powder coat won. The color is the closest powder coat I've found to the color rust, which fit in great with the interior design concept for the remodel. Up close there is a slight texture and speckles of black, however it is a uniform coloring which takes the effect away a little bit. I hope to experiment with adding painted highlights to the powder coat for a more realistic affect. I'm glad you think it is fun Mele, because that was what I was shooting for. Something to attract and hold the eye looking for a different shape. Jake » reply Busy Man

Thanks Warren and Don, The number of projects I've been pumping out is a little misleading. Last year I had a number of clients start the design process and then stall out about the time to get started. I don't consider a project a sure thing until I get a deposit so I took some jobs that actually sent deposits. As you might guess, the 5 or 6 jobs that had stalled sent deposits in(some pretty time consuming). I swear all of them came in within a 4 week period with the question "Can I get that next week?" right behind them. I was lucky enough to keep all of the jobs, and have been trying to keep at it to catch up. In one hand I'm very happy with all of the business, but I will feel much better when the knot in my gut goes away after I get caught up. Some of these projects have been on the shelf for a year. Character
Hi Jake,
Your grill work has lots and lots of character. I'd call it a sculpture.
