I started an Etsy Store

Casting | Fabrication | Jewelry

It's just a humble beginning. I'm currently building my own portfolio/commerce site, but I thought I'd throw this out there and see what happens. Has anyone else sold on Etsy? Any thoughts or related experiences to share?

David's Etsy

Nice work David, and your prices are definitely very reasonable for hand crafted, original pieces.
I personally have not listed items on Etsy, but know people who do and like the exposure.
My sales have been mainly at face to face art shows, like Mendocino, etc. That can be a tiring commitment, making pieces to take, setting up a booth and being there all day, but it's also nice to see first hand people's reactions and hear their comments.
Good Luck.

Your Etsy Store

I too have an Etsy site - ptdco. I use it as a place to post items NOW and try to send everyone there. I have only had 2 sales so far but just like a brick and mortar store it is up to you to promote it. If you don’t have it get PayPal account, it will be the best thing you ever did (next to making sales). You will get a lot of e-mails from them about how to promote your site, read them when you get time most of them are very good. Use ever “tag” (11 or 12?) you can, for this will help with hits. If you want, you can link your sty account to your face book account. I could go on but you get the idea.

Etsy Site

I also have an Etsy store: www.JulyCreek.Etsy.com

I also have a regular web site: www.JulyCreek.com

Haven't sold diddly, but I am not sure I really care right now. The websites give me a chance to reflect and organize my thoughts reflected against the 'real world' (gosh, did I say that?).

What happens ---- happens....

Your site is very nice; I like your stuff and I think you will do well.

Sandra, Thanks. I looked at

Sandra,

Thanks. I looked at your site, nice work. I like the sea-glass/copper/found stuff. Very cool.

I agree, for me the value in setting up an Etsy store is really just a sort of training wheels effect. I'm organizing my stuff, getting photos, thinking through prices, policies, writing descriptions. That's priceless. When I get my own site up and running I'll have some actual content to work with!

Congratulations. Put a sold

Congratulations. Put a sold sign on them but leave them up so people can see that other people want them.
