New to site but not metalworking

Been a metalworker all my adult life(38+ years counting from age 18 though I`ve been terrorizing metal since I discovered shop class)and worked making objects(some of it art) for both myself and others in everything from yacht yards to fab shops and factories.
My current passions are custom motorcycles, blacksmithing and old tools and machinery.
Maybe an old rust buster like myself can be of some use here.I hope to be able to hold up my end of the discussions and maybe even learn how to post pics of my work so you can get a good laugh once in awhile.

Check out the different parts of this site and subscribe to some of them to follow the discussions that interest you. It's been a long time since I posted any pictures but recall that it was confusing.

I live in mid-coast Maine

I live in the Boothbay Harbor area and originally came up here to work for Deerfoot Yachts.
Lots of really nice materials here that revolve around the marine trades. One of my favorite jobs is repair of old bronze deck hardware for the wooden yachts that come in from all over the world during the summers.
I also get to work with artists working in other mediums as there is a very large community of artists and craftsmen up here.

Hey Daedalus welcome!
I'm originally from Castine, and was raised on the water.I even did a short stint as cabin boy on the Victory Chimes(162ft. three masted schooner)which still frequents those shores I'd wager...My old man was the only welder in our little fishing village and even though he was a sculptor, ended up doing a lot of marine welding repairs for trade...
Ah what I'd do for some lobster just now...LOL

Victory Chimes

I worked at Sample`s shipyard where the Victory C was rebuilt before it was bought by the pizza king and became the Domino Effect. We still had a piece of her mast being held there for quite some time after that fellow was killed after he went aloft and the mast snapped at deck level after he released all the rigging(not in our yard but south of us).We had replaced one mast that was rotted at thu the partners at deck level and the next yard was trying to replace another when it happened.
Castine is a beautiful area and I`m sure you miss it from time to time. Most folks up here are willing to do whatever it takes to keep the wolf away from the door as I`m sure you know.
Lots of VERY talented craftsmen from here west into Vermont that I`m honored to call friends.Seems like every other town has some sort of art organization or center in it.

In theory there is no difference between theory and practice.
In practice there is.
