One of a kind vs limited editions Hello everyone - What is the proper term to describe welded steel sculptures that are unique yet repeated? For example, say I do 10 sculptures of a cyclist. To the casual observer, it would be a limited edition; however, because they are each hand made, no two will be exactly the same. Would you refer to them as a limited edition? Thank you for your help! ![]() Rich - I appreciate your

This is what I do: Pieces which are the same design but vary in the execution of component parts are given a "version" number. Pieces of the same version and component parts which vary slightly in e.g. component dimensions are given a letter after the version number. Thus this is a Miniature Equatorial Sunidal version 019: http://www.flickr.com/photos/27683124@N07/6034506940/in/set-72157605638700703 This is a Miniature Equatorial Sundial version 018a, 018b and 018c: http://www.flickr.com/photos/27683124@N07/6034506814/in/set-72157605638700703 http://www.flickr.com/photos/27683124@N07/6218426743/in/set-72157605638700703 http://www.flickr.com/photos/27683124@N07/6224254445/in/set-72157605638700703 Take all of the above with a big FWIW. I am not a refined artist either. crquack |

I would probably refer to
I would probably refer to them as a limited edition, but I'm not much given to the finer points of high-end flossy art marketing. (Hey - I'm just a blacksmith, not a real sculptor!) Those that were into that scene might refer to them as a "Series"; indicating that, while they all have a common theme, each one is unique. i.e., "Cyclorama Series, #3"
Some of the more refined artists here can probably give you a notion of what the general convention is on this sort of thing.
