Please do! If only one

Please do! If only one person is inspired to actually experiment with firecolour , I feel justified in continuing posting here.

More than inspiring to me

Colin, you may be the godfather of "portrait firecolour". I am going to send you some other tips and irons that go on your torch along with the copper sheets. After watching the vidios, what you really need though is an acetylene torch with tips #1-#3. Not oxy, just air acetylene. You will have much more control(softer but hotter flame). Maybe I'll send you a whole set-up as some sort of trade for the piece we talked about. If you don't find it better you can send it back, I need another extra rig anyway. I'll e-mail you that pic of my wife so you can play(not that way, get your mind out of the gutter). Let me know what your thinking.
Don't forget about getting something for valentines day for you girlfriend, we don't want you firecolouring the dog house down!
Thanks for the education
Ernie

Valentines day dog house

I made a firecolour rose bouquet for Krista ; should stand me in good stead for awhile. Can't wait to try the different torchfittings- might solve quite a few problems for me. More in-depth videos on the way! Thank you Ernie!

Colin WOW !! I'm, just

Colin

WOW !! I'm, just starting to 'learn' copper and as soon as I finish this post I'm heading to the shop to play with fire. Your video was great; please keep them coming.

A couple (from about a million) of questions: what gauge copper are you using and what temp/how long do you prime it.

Dan

Hello Dan , the copper sheet

Hello Dan , the copper sheet is 12oz , 10"x10" , at this size and thickness it primes very fast . There are no hard and fast rules regarding prime time so I would check the sheet every 3 mins at 350 degrees . This platinum colour took approx 6 mins -taking it out twice in that time. There are so many variables that can affect the process - many of which I don't fully understand yet . Exposure to oxygen is one of them.It might aid or hinder the colouring process , I'm not entirely sure. Please post and report on your findings when you do experiment , I would be very interested to see them.

Red Copper

Dear Mr.COlin
I would be much obliged if you let me know how we
can make old copper back to red and stay red.
Thank you in advance.
