Ok I made it now how do I sell it

I am an artist blacksmith trying to break more into the sculpture realm as apposed to the architectural metal field. But, I am finding it is definitely a different 'business'. So I'm looking for suggestions on how to sell this piece.
The steps I have taken so far, is submitting pictures to galleries but with only one piece complete the gallery owners are quite hesitant, not to mention she stands 5' 2" tall and takes up about a 3' footprint.
So, I have about 700+ hours of fabrication time in this piece and enjoyed every second of it. She consists of, core 10, brass, bronze, copper, and stainless steal. Any suggestion would be much appreciated. Also if anyone would be willing to venture, price? I know what I would like but not sure what I may be able to get.

Thank you all so much,
Matt Canaday

sculpture walk

Are there any local sculpture walks? A place where local artists can display their works to the public in a park or around town/city?

maybe you don't!

Matt,
Maybe you don't sell her. Maybe you use her as an invitation to see the rest of your work? Since your post, how many new hits have you had to your website? Concept seems to be working doesn't it? Very nice work, by the way.
The value of this piece may be greater than a dollar in your pocket today.
It's unlikely that any gallery can or will do a better job of marketing your work than you can. Here's a marketing idea. This piece needs an audience. For the moment just seek the audience. The piece has Judeaic Christian overtones. Solomon sought wisdom. Wisdon is another name for Christ. Wisdom was present at creation. There is a large market for this kind of art work. Pose the same question, minus the price stuff, to that market. Brad

Brad, Thank you. Seek the

Brad,
Thank you. Seek the audience, sometimes its hard to see past the no dollar today, but , yes it is an investment. also I'm glad to see that someone caught the title, the piece is based on the book of proverbs in the bible speaking of wisdom as a female form. OK so not to babble.

seek the audience.

selling piece

I don't know if you have the same sort of arts councils over there, but you may find some help if you can get an agent on a commission basis. I did this and she shifted a few bits for me, and generated more . Good look

hey thanks for the idea

hey thanks for the idea Mark
funny im kinda working on that right now. I think an agent would be a dream come true, for the most part just pound out sculptures and let someone else igure the selling out
thanks

ReInventing OnesSelf

Hi Matt,

I am in a similar situation. I used to be a sculptor but couldn't make any money or get gallery representation. I made my first coffee table for myself ( because I needed one) and low+ behold I had a new profession!!!! Then i started doing architectural ironwork and it burnt me out real fast. Check out my last commission almost killed me on a past blog of mine. Anyway, I've been doing some small scale sculptures and selling them. Also find a space, preferably someone can lend you an empty space for free (or some type of exchange) and show your own work. I just did it and it was really rewarding and it led to other opprotunities. Good Luck! janet R>

discovering you

Janet, Matt,
Harry Truman once said, " A bank will be happy to loan you money, if you can prove that you don't need it." My experience has shown me that the same is true of agents and galleries. The only agent, with tolerable faults, that I've ever met looks back at me in mirror. At least I have a personal interest in selling my work. Brad
