Blacksmithing i just joined here beacause i finally read an email i got from Mr. Waugh. this is a great site just from digging about. i am an amatuer smith/ student and probably half the age of the next youngest person on here (i am only 16, but pedophiles be ware! i am about 6 foot 3 and weigh about 245lbs, hence going by bigfoot!). i make knives, hooks, tongs, and whatever needs making or i want to make. even though i am young i do like forging, but don't like making swords or big blades. i started out about a year ago and now am actually selling the odd piece. the market for 'rustic' stuff in my area is picking up with the economy a little bit, so that is helping. i like to make tools, not artsy fartsy stuff, which is why i do not sell that many pieces. that and i am focused on getting a hammer just right. i have only practiced on 10 hot tools and tomahawks! lol' happpy hamering to all and good luck on your projects! ![]() sorry mate!

Hey punctuation is for old folks! Capitalization isn't really easy when you type fast. Hey I just came in from outside at my 'smithy'. I just made 3 pairs of tongs, 2 drifts (for a hammer and smaller hammer) plus a slitting chisel. when i find my camera i will post pics. My mac normally capitalizes for me, so i got in the habit of not capitalizing. |

I'm glad to see you made it
I'm glad to see you made it over here, Greg. I think you'll find the people here to be pretty friendly and helpful, and there is a lot of really excellent blacksmithing work to be seen here. A lot of great metalwork in many different disciplines, in fact.
I like to see young people getting involved in metalsmithing and really working at it the way that you do. The skills don't happen overnight, but studying what others have done and trying out things yourself will enhance your skill level all the time. Persistence is the key - I've been doing this since I was your age and I learn something new almost every day.
Okay, now that I've said all the nice stuff, when are you going to start using capitalization and punctuation in your writing? Gives us old geezers a migraine to read stuff with no capitalization or punctuation, y'know? (grin)
