Cable Welding

Blacksmithing

Ok i just made two cable billets from wire rope. It was only my second and third forge welds, but was SOOO easy. The pattern is eye popping and the welds were almost perfect (the end didn't take though).

new hitty thing!

Blacksmithing

my latest hammer reworked from a 2(ish) lb drilling hammer, now a straight pein with a brand new handle. it should do well with my smaller 'chores' (term used loosely)

Finally Finished choppy things!

Blacksmithing

I finnaly got a handle put on these two. the left is a carpenters hatchet and the right is supposed to be a viking style hatchet based on the viking two lugged axe, but scaled down to suit my needs. Photobucket

new post vice

Blacksmithing

I just got a 5in post vice of flea bay. It came yesterday covered in a hundred years of gunk. It had to be stripped beacause it was all seized and dirty. 3 hours later i had it stripped and clean. Photobucket

latest choppy things

Blacksmithing

i made these two axes yesterday. the botom one is supposed to be a viking axe and the top one is supposed to be a carpenters axe. i know the gum is an odd choice, but i wanted soemthing for scale. the eyes need to be bigger, but they are pretty good, i think.

Today after i got my 'work' done (some tongs, big s hooks, a few punches, drifts, chisels and top tools) i decided to make this fellow.
