Goodmorning,I just finished a chair for a donation to the circle school in quarter inch steel and after grinding I want to know what is the fastest way to create rust to cover the grind marks? I know it's in the archives somewhere but cant seem to access it I painted on some salt water last night theres a little rust but its much lighter than the metal surface that was sitting out in the rain for months is there a better solution??......................thanks for any info ......................bob ![]() what kind of fertilizer jim??

thank you Ries,I already sent the chair to the circle school the auction is on the 18th of feb.I sure hope it makes a little money for the school the salt water I used put a light rusted surface on it I guess anyone who wins it can set it out on the outside for a couple of months to even out the rust ,... thanks again.............bob ![]() Chair......?

Muratic acid will kill the mill scale and cause a pretty even rust in a few hours. Over night will make a good cover. You must rinse well. ![]() thank you!

I have used garden
I have used garden fertilizer in solution with water for a fast rust. Usally spray it on with one of those hand pump plastic jug sprayers from a garden center.
